The sports development team work closely alongside the School Sports Partnerships in order to enhance opportunities for young people in sport, creating a platform for a healthy life of sport and exercise.

Information about School Sport Partnerships
School Sport Partnerships (SSP's) are families of schools, brought together "to enhance sports opportunities for all."
In Easington, 6 secondary schools work with their feeder-primary schools.
They are:
- Seaham School of Technology
- Easington Community School
- St. Bedes Catholic Comprehensive School
- Shotton Hall School
- Dene Community School of Technology
- Wellfield Comprehensive School
Our School Sport Partnership Team is:

- Peter Iveson (School Sports Co-Ordinator)
- Ailsa Hall (School Sports Co-Ordinator)
- Elaine Smith (Community Swimming Coach)
- Rachel Wilkinson (Community Dance Coach)
- Marisa Musgrove (Administrative Assistant)
All School Sport Partnerships work to 6 key objectives:
- Strategic planning
- Primary liaison
- Out of school hours learning
- School - community links
- Coaching and leadership
- Raising standards
Through these objectives, the partnership leads on PESSCL strategy - Physical education, school sport and club links.
Training Opportunities / Raising Standards
Training opportunities, organised centrally through Durham County Local Education Authority, are delivered locally and are offered to teachers, classroom assistants and other adults.
This years list to include:
- learning In and through Gymnastics
- health benefits of P.E.
- high quality P.E. - adults other than teachers (AOTT's)
- learning in and through athletics
- learning in and through OAA
- top Outdoors
- top Dance
- top Play
- top Games
- top Swimming
