Easington Sports Coaches' Network, part of the Active Easington Network, is committed to providing the training, knowledge, skills and experience needed to enable coaches to offer high quality physical acitivity opportunities for the whole community and this is reflected in the exciting and progressive range of courses on offer. 

About this service

Courses are available for both newcomers and those who are already actively invovled in sport. However, all will contribute in some way towards mthe professional development of participants.

Groups that will find the courses useful include:

• Coaches

• Community Sports Coaches

• Primary and Secondary School Teachers

• Teaching Assistants

• Adults other than Teachers (AOTTS)

• Parents / Volunteers

• Community / Youth Workers and Groups

Coaching is a fundamental part of community sport and so, anyone who takes on the job must have the right qualifications and training in order to do it effectively.

Easington Sports Network (SCN) was set up to ensure individuals and groups have access to a wide range of coaching and leadership course at all levels. The 'SCN' works with the Active Easington Network to ensure it is offering the correct levels and types of training and qualifications for local people in order to support the development of physical activity opportunities in the District.

SCN is in partnership between:

• District of Easington Council's Sports Development Team

• County Durham Primary Care Trust's Get Active and Active Easington Teams

• Easington School Sports Partnershio

• East Durham College

• East Durham Trust

• County Durham Sport

• Sport England

SCN aims to:

• Provide coaching and leadership courses within District of Easington

• Identify potential sports coaches and leaders

• Provide volunteering and coaching opportunities within the local community, including sports clubs and community centres

• Provide mentoring to newly trained coaches and leaders
