Government view of Social Inclusion

The Prime Minister set up the Social Exclusion Unit in 1997 to find joined up solutions to joined up problems, working right across government.  Initially part of the Cabinet Office the unit moved to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) in May 2003 which is now know as the Department for Communities and local government.
