Pride in Easington is a new initiative aimed at encouraging people living in the district to become involved in addressing some of the environmental and community safety issues that can effect the condition of local neighbourhoods.
The initiative involves tackling litter and graffiti problems, educating people about the environment and encouraging cleaner, safer and greener communities.
Pride in Easington is co-ordinated by District of Easington Council, working closely with partner organisations. Dedicated Pride in Easington officers have been appointed to provide support to community groups and organisations that wish to get involved with the Pride programme.
How can you get involved?
The success of Pride in Easington is largely dependent upon the involvement of the local community and there are a number of ways in which individuals and groups can become involved.
Some of the activities that the team have been involved in so far have included:-
Distribution of community grant fund to a number of local community groups

Pride in easington awards evening held on 5th June 2008 to recognise the achievements of individuals and groups across the district who have given their own time to improve the quality of life for themselves and others.
Establishment of a tidy business award scheme to recognize the contribution of the business community to our area. The scheme gives public recognition to the efforts that businesses take to improve waste management and the visual appearance of the local environment, whilst ensuring that they are aware of their legal responsibilities.
Working with local schools promoting Eco school standards by looking at environmental issues such as recycling, looking after school grounds and saving energy and water within the school environment. Eco schools is an international award scheme whereby schools can aim for green flag status by carrying out environmental projects and initiatives.
