In 1994, the East Durham Regeneration Partnership led by the District Council was successful in bidding and securing, 4.636 million from Round One of the SRB. This together with public and private sector funding translates into an investment of some, 13 million into Seaham and Murton over seven years.

The Scheme began in mid-summer 1995 and ended in March 2002, throughout its lifetime the scheme consisted of 24 projects aimed at addressing the above objectives.
