What is a project/good cause?

A project is a piece of work you want to carry out which is extra to the usual day to day activities of your organisation and a good cause will have charitable, benevolent or philanthropic objectives.  Your organisations intentions should be worthwhile and reflect current concerns where possible and meet identified needs and aim to deliver a long term difference.

There are many projects and good causes that have been funded in the District ranging from; new community buildings, purchase of specialist equipment to undertake a project, building an information and technology centre that will provide educational opportunities in the community.

In order to be successful in your application for a grant, your organisation will need to be capable of managing the project and this is likely to involve your organisation with:

• committee skills
• health and safety issues
• elections and meetings
• employment rights
• report writing
• equal opportunities
• financial systems and accounting
• legislation for example, Children's Act
