Community funding - frequently asked questions

Can a local community organisation apply for grant?   Yes, any local organisation that has a constitution and bank account can apply for a grant.

What type of things can a grant be awarded for?  Organisations apply for grants to do a wide range of things such as, purchasing equipment for a particular project, to hire specialist services such as an Architect to design a new building, or a consultant to undertake a feasibility study on a larger project.  There are numerous grant makers covering a diverse range of topics.  Some of the most common themes are projects for the disabled people, youth activities, elderly, arts, sports, charitable causes, health issues and grants to combat social exclusion.  Please note that there are specialist grant makers who give to specific causes and nothing else.

Will grant makers fund a project in the District of Easington?  The District of Easington is regarded by many grant makers as an area ranking high in the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).  The District has also performed poorly in the past years in accessing grants from both the Lottery Distributors, Trusts and Charities.  To many grant makers the District of Easington is a targeted area and applications from groups and organisations are most welcome.  Grant makers want to make a change in the District and are looking to fund projects in this area that will make a difference to people's lives.

Is there any help available for groups with the grant application process?  Contact the Regeneration Initiatives Teamat District of Easington on 0191 527 0501.
