Asset and property management
The Valuation and Estates Unit comprises of five officers and is part of Regeneration and Development Directorate and is responsible for a wide range of duties relating to the Councils land and property portfolio .
- the unit is responsible for advising upon and implementing all disposals of council land and property interests and all acquisitions for council purposes.
- the unit manages all of the council’s non –operational land and property portfolio including shops, allotments, garage sites, grazing land and other miscellaneous land and property.
- it is responsible for the provision of a valuation service which includes valuations of land and property where tenants exercise their right to buy under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and the Housing Act 1985, periodic valuations of all the Councils Assets for the Asset Register and Housing Revenue Account Asset valuations
- the unit also takes a leading role in the preparation and implementation of the Councils Asset Management Plan.
- the unit is responsible for all estate management issues and the provision of advice to the Council on a whole range of property matters
