Planning Portal

The Planning Services team works to ensure that development takes place in the correct locations and to stop inappropriate development. It makes sure that new uses for land and buildings are suitable for the proposed location. The planning system works by having a ‘development plan’ which sets out policies on how we develop our District and also helps to assess planning applications for individual purposes. Qualified Officers with an extensive knowledge of the area staff the Unit.

Our online planning services can be accessed from our Planning Public Access website. From here you can search for current planning applications, view plans, comment on applications and find information on committees, listed buildings etc.

All information provided on the Planning website is either live or updated twice weekly.

About this service

Planning Portal - Apply Online

The Council prefers to receive all planning applications via the planning portal where possible. This is the simplest and easiest way to apply for planning permission by sending an application direct to the Districts Planning Unit via the internet. User-friendly forms and a tool to calculate planning fees help to speed-up and simplify the application process. You can even buy site maps and attach supporting documents or drawings.

To apply for planning permission online and to find other planning resources, select Planning Portal.
