East Durham Local Strategic Partnership

Local authorities in England have been given the task of bringing people together to look at:

Local authorities must prepare a community strategy to promote or improve the economic, social and 'well-being' of their area, and in order to do this the East Durham Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) was formed and is made up from main stakeholders from the public, voluntary, community and private sectors.  The establishment of East Durham LSP with the commitment of its partners – will provide a strong vehicle to deliver the action plan within the Community Strategy.  Each theme within the strategy is the sole or joint responsibility of the thematic implementation groups.  These implementation groups operate within the main LSP structure and are responsible for progressing key elements of the strategy through the action planning process.

The East Durham LSP was formed in March 2001, building on the success of the East Durham task force established in the early 1990’s.  The LSP is committed to finding better ways of partnership working to benefit all those who live, learn, work in and visit the District.  The period from establishment to date has seen the LSP move from the development stage towards the delivery stage and the Community Strategy will be a strategic driver of this evolution.
