Liveability Fund

It is about having a cleaner safer environment in which to live and work. It is about the attractiveness of the area and encouraging people to use outdoor facilities. It is about the streets and how clean they are, the parks and open spaces, sports and play facilities, it is about welcoming town centres and shopping areas.

It is about places for children and young people to play, places for pensioners to stroll, places for families to enjoy.

This Programme consisted of a Revenue grant of £354,000 and a Capital grant of £2,800,000.

About this service

Liveability projects in action

The District of Easington's approach implements a range of liveability service reforms and capital projects designed to modernise its environmental services and the services delivered by partners.

These will reduce duplication of effort and promote a more customer-focused approach, through improved inter-departmental working and the engagement of partners and stakeholders in service delivery.

The Liveability Working Group considers the proposed reforms and service improvements for the Liveability pilot, which is a sub-group of the East Durham Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).

Membership of the Working Group includes members of the Housing and Communities, Community Safety and Environment implementation groups of the LSP, two Community Network members, Head of Regeneration and Partnership, Principal Regeneration Officer and the Liveability Officer.

The Liveability Subgroup meets monthly and has approved 29 Service Improvements/Projects to date:
