Local Enterprise Growth Initiative

Easington District is one of four districts in County Durham who have received a cash windfall to help boost new businesses in disadvantaged communities.  Easington, Derwentside, Sedgefield and Wear Valley will together receive £10.2M of funding under Round One of the Government's neighbourhood renewal programme Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).

These four County Durham Districts, are one of only ten local authority areas nationally to receive support for the next three years starting from the LEGI initiative.  This funding aims to increase entrepreneurial activity in disadvantaged communities, support business growth, reduce the failure rate of locally-owned businesses and attract appropriate inward investment and franchising opportunities.
