Safeguarding of Children Policy.

About this service

Criminal Record Bureau Checks

The Council is committed to protecting its customers and in particular children and the vulnerable adults.  We have therefore registered with the CRB so that we can check the background of future employees who will be working with vulnerable sections of our community.

If you are applying for a position with the Council, you may be asked to undertake a CRB check as part of the process - posts needing clearance would include Care Wardens, Sports Officers etc.

Safeguarding Children Policy

The purpose of this Policy (copy enclosed to the right of this page) is to lay down the appropriate standards and arrangements for Safeguarding Children within the District and within the powers and scope of governance of the District Council.

This policy applies to all employees and volunteers who work for the Council regardless of their contract length, and also applies to Elected Members of the Council in so far as thier duties might involve any contact with Children.

Some frequently asked questions

Can you do checks for other companies?

Unfortunately our registration restrictions do not allow this usually, however we are able to recommend the 'North East Regional Employers Organisation' who may be able to help at reasonable cost.
