Nomination Procedure

We have developed a nominations agreement with the Registered Social Landlords (RSL's) that provide housing in the region.  East Durham Homes are the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), who manage the stock belonging to us therefore they will ensure that the nomination procedure is delivered correctly.

The aims and objectives of the agreement  are to: -

• increase the proportion of households in Easington District rehoused by RSL's
• increase the proportion of households nominated by us to RSL's
• improve liaison between us and RSL's on nomination issues
• ensure that voids are let as quickly as possible to appropriate nominees
• improve the service and information provided to potential RSL nominees
• improve nominations procedures to benefit households from all access queues  

The agreement states that all RSL's are expected to give 50% of true voids to us.  Where we have provided funding or below market value land or some other subsidy for a scheme, 100% nominations should be given for the first lettings.

We must ensure that at least 10% of the nominations provided are taken from the homelessness register.

East Durham Homes will assist us in monitoring the RSL's performance by receiving a quarterly lettings return form from all RSL's.  This form will list all lettings the RSL has made to us within a quarter.
