The Housing Services Unit is split into six main areas:
private sector housing renewal - are responsible for the private landlords accreditation scheme, licensing, tackling empty homes and providing financial assistance to homeowners and tenants
homelessness and housing advice - are responsible for preventing and tackling homelessness
warden services - provide a 24 hour, 365 days a year warden service for people across Easington District
energy efficiency - this section deal with all aspects of energy efficiency grants and discounts, including a home insulation and warm front scheme, whilst offering general help and advice
housing support service - are responsible for monitoring service standards and performance within East Durham Homes (EDH) and across the housing services unit.
housing strategy and policy - are responsible for producing an up to date housing strategy document and relevant housing related policies. The unit also works closely with East Durham Homes on regeneration schemes within the district.
