Over 44,000 tonnes of household rubbish are produced within the District of Easington every year and much of this is buried in the ground in landfill sites.
With this amount of rubbish to deal with District of Easington Council, in partnership with Durham County Council and the other local authorities within the county, look for sustainable ways to manage all this waste.
As residents, we all need to become more efficient in the way we use, recycle and dispose of materials, in order to minimise impacts on the environment, and reduce the rate at which resources are depleted.
Reduce, Re-use and Recycle
If we all do our bit for the environment and reduce, re-use and recycle as much rubbish as possible, we will:
help the environment by saving natural resources
reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill, which will also help to prevent council tax rises in the future and…
help our local community – for every tonne of recycling collected, £1 is donated to a local charity or community group. The District of Easington Youth Forum has already benefited from £1,000
It’s easy to recycle…
