Hazardous waste collection

Hazardous waste now includes items such as fridges, televisions and PC monitors.  We will currently collect these free of charge from domestic properties.

Some frequently asked questions

How can I dispose of these items myself?

They can be taken to one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres.  In the case of asbestos and chemicals, arrangements will need to be made with Durham County Council.

How can I dispose of commercial hazardous waste?

We would advise you to contact an approved waste management company for removal of such items. Most reputable companies advertise their services in the telephone book.
