Household waste - special collections

We provide a service to remove additional items of household waste which would not be removed with your normal refuse collection. Items of furniture, fridges, and other household waste are free of charge; however a charge may apply for DIY type waste.

White goods are collected separately and may be on a different day, these items will be recycled.

About this service

We will not collect:

Large quantities may require more than one weekly collection.

We will collect any other household rubbish however there may be a charge.

What happens next?

Collections will take place the week following your request. All requests must be made before 4pm Friday.

What are the charges for this service?

All charges are to be paid in full during the week prior to the collection.

How can I dispose of other items?

You can take your household rubbish or items to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.

A permit from Durham County Council may be required for this service.
