Animal - fouling

We will aim to respond to all incidents of fouling on footpaths and in public open spaces by either arranging for it to be cleaned up and/or arranging for Environmental Wardens to patrol the areas in an effort to catch the offenders.

What you must do

If you walk your dog always carry the means to clear up after your dog. A simple plastic bag will do the trick or obtain poop scoops from a local pet shop. Remember to take a bag or poop scoop like you'd remember a lead.

It is everyone's duty to clean up after a dog in their care.  Anyone caught not doing so will be issued with a fixed penalty fine.

What we must do

We have designated land under The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996.  It is an offence for a dog owner or someone  looking after a dog not to clean up after them in these areas. Failure to comply can result in a prosecution and fine up to £1000. It is no defence to claim ignorance of the dog's actions.

Some frequently asked questions
