There are many sources of grant funding or discounts available for domestic energy efficiency measures. 

A brief summary of these schemes currently available is listed below. For more detailed information on these schemes please access the appropriate telephone number or web page for each scheme. Always ensure  that your property is suitable to have there works carried out by having an appropriate survey carried before any insulation measures are installed and make sure that you receive a guarantee from the installer for all works carried out.

Easington Over 60's FREE Insulation Scheme

Are you over 60 and a Homeowner in Easington District ?

If you answered YES to these two questions you are entitled to claim FREE* insulation measures in your home.

Yes it's that easy! There's no catch, the scheme is totally free and you won't be asked to make any contribution. You can also view an information leaflet on this scheme by clicking on the relevant link on the right hand side of this web page.

Warm Front Team

Warm Front is a Government scheme run by EAGA Partnership Ltd based in Newcastle.

Help Towards: FREE Grants for Private Properties and Private Rented Properties, towards central heating measures, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, draft proofing, low energy light bulbs etc.

Grant Value: Up to £2700

Who Qualifies: Private homeowners and Private Rented households who are in receipt of certain benefits or allowances

ScottishPower Home Insulation Priority Scheme (HIPS)

If you live in a private property and are in receipt of a qualifying benefit you could receive Cavity Wall insulation absolutely free of charge.

Durham Energy Savers

Durham Energy Savers Scheme (DES)

The Durham Energy Savers home insulation scheme commenced April 2006. The scheme is managed by the Tees and Durham Energy Advice Centre (TADEA) based in Billingham.

Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre

The Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre based in Billingam, will provide you with free, independent advice on how to save money on your fuel bills and who can provide a grant for home insulation measures. Why not print off a copy of their DIY Home Energy Questionnaire shown on the right hand side of this web page. Complete this and return it to the address printed on the questionnaire and they will send you free and impartial information on the best ways to reduce the energy consumed in your home.

Energy Watch North East

Energy Watch is the National gas and electricity consumer watchdog, providing free, independent advice and comparisons on gas and electricity fuel prices for the general public. They can supply a listing of all fuel suppliers showing the current gas and/or electricity prices to allow customers to compare prices.

Discounts on Central Heating / Energy Efficient Boilers

NPower A1 Boiler Scheme

Funding for this scheme is supplied from NPower under the Governments Energy Efficiency Commitment. Discounts of up to 50% are available off a limited range of high efficiency condensing boilers. The scheme is run nationally through the Plumb Centre Ltd. The scheme is not open to the general public so you will need to contact a Registered CORGI Installer to access this funding and obtain a quotation.

Low Energy Light Bulbs are available mail order from the following schemes:

ScottishPower Low Energy Light Bulb Scheme

Discounted low energy light bulbs are available via mail order direct from ScottishPower. This scheme can provide low energy light bulbs as follows:

2 x 20W bulbs for £4.70 OR 2 x 16W bulbs for £6.00 OR 2 x 18W bulbs for £5.20

Maximum 3 packs in any combination.
