As part of the Government' s modernisation programme to make decision making simpler, faster and easier to understand, the District of Easington introduced a new political structure from 18 May 2000. This involved replacing the committee system with a new political structure.
Following community consultation, the Council chose to adopt the Leader and Executive form of political arrangements.
