If you become a member of the Community Advisory Panel we will ask you what you think about council services and issues that affect you and the area you live in.
We will contact you up to three times a year to ask you to take part in surveys. You can tell us how you want to respond in the manner that suits you best e.g. by post, telephone or on-line.
You don’t have to take part in every survey but the more responses we get the better the results. You may be invited to small informal meetings at a venue near to where you live to discuss issues in more depth. Occasionally you will be invited to full Panel events.
On the questionnaire we ask you to tell us a little about yourself and the issues that interest you most and we may invite you to join in consultation that relates to one of these subjects or to you personally because you:
are from a certain area
are a certain age
are from a particular ethnic group or
have a certain disability
The information you give us will only be used for District of Easington Council to consult with you about the services we provide and will not be passed on to anyone else.
To make sure that as many people as possible get the chance to have their say we regularly review membership of the panel and some current members will stand down each year.
Panel member support
To make it as easy as possible for you to become involved we will:
cover travel expenses to and from consultation meetings
provide postage paid envelopes to return any paper questionnaires or invitations
provide on-line surveys for those who prefer to take part electronically
always provide information in a format that is accessible to you
make sure meetings are held at accessible venues
involve interpreters and aids to communication when needed
To keep you informed we will publicise consultation surveys and events on our website and in local newspapers. Then, if you have an interest in attending an event that you haven’t been invited to, you can let us know. We will report regularly through Infopoint, our residents newspaper, our website and in a Panel members’ newsletter, results of all consultations and surveys we conduct and tell you what has been done as a result of what you have said.
