Business rates - Non-Profit Making Organisations Relief

Under Section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 we have the power to grant up to 100% discretionary relief in respect of the following:

• premises occupied by an organisation not established or conducted for profit and whose main objectives are charitable or are otherwise philanthropic or religious or concerned with education, social welfare, science, literature or the fine arts.
• premises used for the purposes or recreation and occupied for the purposes of a club, society or other organisation not established or conducted for profit.     

What you must do

If you wish to apply for this relief you must complete and return the relevant application form together with the following supporting documentation:

• copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association, or Rules of the Association ( these will be returned after the application has been considered).
• copies of the latest audited accounts and balance sheets.
