
THE District of Easington’s twelfth musical extravaganza is certain to hit the high notes once again thanks to a toe-tapping line-up of top talent.
Residents and previous festival-goers will be familiar with Easington’s eclectic blend of live music and wide array of musical styles from jazz and brass to northern soul, folk, pop and rock.
There is also an exotic and unusual climax to this year’s extravaganza with a Diwali celebration in Peterlee. This will be an opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate the Festival of Lights with an evening of classical dance from South India and North Indian instrumental music.
Residents will not only have an opportunity to enjoy music but also to participate in it with a variety of singalongs, dancing and musical workshops being held through the event.
Festival highlights include Northern Soul Night - four DJs presenting classics from the ‘60s to the present day; line dancing night with the Rivendel Country duo; ‘50s rock ‘n’ roll performed by the Midnight Dynamos; Jazzin’ It! – a double bill featuring piano trio Alex Ord and jazz fusion quartet Different Worlds; Broughton Brass Band with internationally acclaimed percussionist Simone Rebello and Murton Amateur Operatic Society performing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic South Pacific.
Performances will be held from Friday, 1 October until Sunday, 7 November at a range of venues all over District of Easington. Tickets will be available from the Council offices, Peterlee Information Office and venues where performances are taking place.

“I am sure residents and visitors will enjoy the host of bands and performances that will be playing in venues around the district.”
